2025 Taiwan Geoscience Assembly – Thank You for Your Participation!

The 2025 Taiwan Geoscience Union Annual Meeting, themed "Climate and Environmental Changes: Emerging Horizons in Earth Sciences," successfully concluded, drawing over 1,900 participants and 17 sponsoring organizations. The conference featured over 50 academic sessions.

The opening ceremony took place in the afternoon of the 16th at 1:00 PM in Conference Room 401 of Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1. Professor Chun-Chieh Wu, President of the Chinese Geoscience Union in Taiwan, served as the conference chair. The Guests delivering opening remarks included Minister Chi-Ming Peng of the Ministry of Environment and Deputy Minister Faa-Jeng Lin of the National Science and Technology Council. Academicians Professor Pao-Kuan Wang and Lou-Chuang Lee from Academia Sinica, Academician Professor Wing-Huen Ip from National Central University, Academician Shaw-Chen Liu from Jinan University, and Professor Kenji Satake from National Central University were also invited to attend the opening ceremony.

Professor Simon Wallis, President of the Japan Geoscience Union, and Professor Takehiko Satoh, President of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society were invited to give the presentations about their unions. Professor Wallis's presentation was titled "The Japan Geoscience Union: Building a Collaborative Future in Earth and Planetary Sciences," while Professor Satoh's presentation was "Asia Oceania Geosciences Society in Asia, for Asia and the World, 25 years and beyond." Both introduced their respective organizations and future visions to the TGA attendees.

The conference also featured keynote lecture by Academician Chen-Tung Arthur Chen of National Sun Yat-sen University. He was introduced by President Chun-Chieh Wu. Academician Chen delivered an inspiring keynote lecture titled " Doubt where there should be no doubt."

Following the keynote lecture, it was the group photo time. And the opening ceremony was followed by the Annual Meeting of TCGU 2025. Subsequently, the Terr. Atmos. Ocean. Sci. Journal Awards Ceremony was held, with Professor Wu inviting Academicians Shaw-Chen Liu and Wing-Huen Ip to present the awards to the recipients.

President Wu delivered the opening remarks as the chair of 2025TGA.

Minister Chi-Ming Peng of the Ministry of Environment was invited to deliver the opening remarks.

Deputy Minister Faa-Jeng Lin of the National Science and Technology Council was invited to deliver the opening remarks.
