當此書的英文介紹的翻譯人王寶貫教授請我為此書在台灣氣象刊物寫篇介紹時，我因為久聞此書名聲，雖然很忙，還是受了先睹為快及強力好奇心的驅使，一口氣答應下來。
隔了幾個星期我幾乎把這件事忘掉的時候，我收到一大箱來自北京的郵件，打開來看到幾乎一個人搬不動的四部巨型精裝書”中國三千年氣象記錄總集”，翻了一下密密麻麻，我立刻開始?心要多久才能從書中消化足夠的資料來寫此介紹，這個心理障礙也確實使我拖延了好一陣子，真不好意思，謹此對王教授及本書作者張德二女士致歉。
此書是一部非常珍貴、實用的基礎書集，以張德二女士為首的工作人員?經十年寒暑，收集自甲骨文字以來直到1911年約三千年的資料，整理了8228種古籍，校對了二十多萬條記載，考訂認真、內容齊全，可以說是中國有史以來最完整、最嚴謹有關氣象的”字典”，應該會受到地球科學、生態學、農業甚至政經學界讀著的歡迎。
其實此書只是塊頭大得嚇人而己，一開始認真讀起來倒是非常易讀也相當有趣、有用，比如說我有一次想知道關於台灣的氣象記載最早是什麼時候開始、什麼現象、出自什麼書藉？我沒花多少時間就找到下列資料：”1661年，辛丑，清順治十八年，台南市，夏五月，海水漲於鹿耳門，先是港內甚淺，巨艦不得進。是歲鄭成功取台灣，鹿耳門水漲丈餘，戰艦從此入，后遂為往來必?之道。”記載於康熙(台灣府誌)。再往下找有關台灣的資料就注意到颱風及豪雨佔很大的篇幅，這些資料應是研究台灣颱風及豪雨?史的重要依据。
此書不只詳列古代氣象資料，也包括異常天氣對農業、生態、經濟及社會的影響，有時候讀起來好像是在讀?史，從天災、收成、飢荒、賑災的角度讀?史感覺到更真實、更客觀，並且更能感覺到好的父母官的重要性，我想有一天應該會有人從這個角度去研判各個君王的政績吧。 |
